A Note from Windie
If you're visiting Portugal for the first time, I honestly can't think of a better itinerary. Yes, you'll see beautiful cities, incredible scenery, and amazing food, but what stayed with me most wasn't a landmark. It was the people. Everywhere I went, locals welcomed me with kindness, smiled through my very questionable attempts at speaking Portuguese, and somehow turned every interaction into a conversation. One of my favorite memories happened in Porto when I stopped at a street vendor selling beautiful kitchen towels. We couldn't really speak the same language, but somehow we understood each other perfectly. After lots of smiles, gestures, and my very broken Portuguese, she gave me a hug before I left. To me... that's Portugal. Warm. Welcoming. Unforgettable. That's why this journey earned a place in Windie's Picks.
